Bizarre Dan Brown Bogus Book with Violet Jessop & Titanic Connection!

Well, this is the weirdest thing in book news I have heard in a while. Some columnist in India called L. Suresh has written a review of a book supposedly written by Dan Brown (of Da Vinci Code fame) which has a Violet Jessop connection. This book, which does NOT exist, is supposedly called The Celestial Deluge.

Suresh gets all of the information about Brown's books wrong. He incorrectly states that Brown has written nine books (he has written four) and that this is the sixth appearance of Brown's famous Da Vinci Code hero, Robert Langdon. In point of fact, Langdon has appeared in only two titles, Angels and Demons & The Da Vinci Code.

According to Dan Brown's website, his next book in reality will be a sequel to Da Vinci Code, with the action set in Washington DC.

Here is the link to Suresh's article.

With thanks to Dru Schillow & Kyrila Scully for bringing this very weird article to my attention.

The Titanic Book Site.com celebrates it’s fourth anniversary today. By far the most significant change was the complete redesign of the site from its original format to the current one.

For old time’s sake, here is how the site looked before the upgrade:

Quite a change, eh? It helps to have a brother who is a web design graphic artist and all the credit for the spiffy new look goes to him. This changeover was a massive effort that took several months from initial design trials until final adoption. The new format was uploaded for the first time in early February, 2004.

The Book Lists now contain over 850 individual titles. There are almost one thousand books reviews and descriptions (How can there be more reviews than number of books? Many titles have had multiple editions, and many of them are reviewed or described individually).

There are now roughly 240 Author Pages, which include over 440 images of book covers. 146 books, old and new, have been added to the Book Lists in the past year. There are now eight research articles, half of them contributed by the ever prolific Senan Molony. Thanks Senan!

New Book Notification Service. This service was introduced last year, and remains a popular one. I continue to send out e-mail notices to everyone who would like to know when new books become available. If you would like to sign up for the notification service, just check out the main page of the web site and you will see the link on the top right side of the page under Special Features.

The new feature added this year is the first of what will hopefully be a series of bibliographies about shipwrecks other than Titanic. The first bibliography is on the wreck of the paddle steamer Arctic. Check it out on the Other Shipwrecks link.

My circle of contacts who inform me about both new and old books continues to expand, but like last year, special recognition must go to Dru Schillow, Patty Miller and Kalman Tanito who have once again gone above and beyond.

As in previous years, time and energy remain the big drawbacks slowing down the introduction of new content. The struggle was particularly tough this past year, as the book store took more and more of my attention. There are a host of new research articles I would like to get written, for example, and other new features are also waiting in the wings. So please do check back from time to time and we will see what new surprises we can come up with.

All the best, Michael (TheManInBlack) Tennaro
