Törnqvist claimed that he was in the “boat that left before the last one”, in the Paterson Morning Call, May 3, 1912. He gave the following in the Boston Globe, April 25, 1912: “After the last boat left the doomed vessel I jumped overboard. I swam around for about half an hour and was finally picked up. I managed to keep afloat by turning over on my back numerous times, although numb with the cold.” Due to Törnqvist giving variable versions of his survival, both claiming to have boarded a boat and to have been picked up from the water, it is hard to rely on his descriptions. We were forced to vote 1, for no particular boat. |
