"the bow had already started to sink and they started lowering the first lifeboat. Miss Sinkkonen was one of those put into it. Nobody seemed to suffer and Miss Sinkkonen could not really understand why there was a hurry to get everybody into the lifeboats. ..... They were only ten in the boat because many had refused to leave the ship. They rowed away from the Titanic whose lights they could see clearly from a distance. They were rescued at about four o'clock....'' For what it is worth, we think her accounts are vague. However, they do suggest a boat on the port side (men being held back). If we take her description of going in the first boat, after they arrived on deck, we are wondering about the last four port boats. It is unlikely Anna walked forward to first class, as she implies she leaves quickly. But she makes no mention of gunshots or pulling people from the water, or from Collapsible B. So by her own admission, or lack of admission, she rules out boats 4, 10, 12, 14 and D. If she is referring to #2 or #16, they lowered quite late in the sinking sequence, and she would have no cause to say "no one seemed to be upset". Therefore, we can not determine a lifeboat for her. |
