In (Commutator 110 Vol 14 No 2), Phyllis Ryerse wrote that Mr. Ryerson says he was in a boat with his friend, Richard Pfopper (#9) but this is second hand information and she gives no source. 

From the Walter Lord collection, we have a letter from Pfopper, which gives details to place him in #9, but does not mention Ryerson as being with him.

We have been unable to find a first hand account from Mr. Ryerson, and cannot place him in a lifeboat.
