From the New York Herald, April 21st 1912: "The Countess of Rothes refers to a woman in her lifeboat, as Mrs. Pearson also rowed, and my maid, Roberta Maioni, rowed the last half of the night." The son of Mrs Pears has a letter written by his mother in which she says she was in the same boat as the Countess, and that “ 'Lady R' was more experienced on the water than any seaman.” Archibald Gracie's book The Truth About the Titanic places Mrs Pears in lifeboat 8. |
