In 1955 George Kemish wrote to Walter Lord that he swam to either boat 9 or 11. There is no record of either boat picking up anyone from the water. However, he was specific that he was in one of these two lifeboats and, as he identified Paddy McGough being in charge, Kemish has been placed in boat 9 with a confidence vote of 5.00. Seaman George “Paddy” McGough received a vote of 5.00 for that same boat. It should be noted that Walter Lord came to the same conclusion that Kemish was in boat 9 when he included mention of him in A Night to Remember. |
