The Sacramento Bee, June 1st 1912:
"There were about forty-five persons in the lifeboat I was assigned to. I was the last woman passenger to get in. As daylight was breaking four men crawled from beneath the seats where they had hidden. We had no lantern and throughout the night we burned shreds of rope, dipped in oil."

Lifeboat 11 was known for Seaman Brice having burned signals by dipping rope into oil. #11 appears to have had more people than the forty-five she mentioned, but she easily could have been guessing at the number.
