In the Jersey Journal, April 20, 1912,
Elizabeth Dowdell stated that she was the governess of
Virginia Emanuel, that she was in lifeboat #13, and
that another lifeboat came down on top of them.
Presumably six-year-old Virginia Emanuel was being
cared for by Miss Dowdell in #13, because no direct
evidence exists that refers to the child by name.
