We did not rely on the text of a supposed letter allegedly written by Orian Davidson, because we have doubts about the letter's authenticity.

Gracie's book The Truth About the Titanic contains an account from Elizabeth Shute who Gracie (and we) place in #3:
"Sitting by me in the lifeboat were a mother and daughter. The mother (Clara Hays) had left a husband on the Titanic, and the daughter (Orian Davidson) a father and husband,..."

We are sure that the two women, mother and daughter, were in #3.
